Impatex SAD H Press Release
Most - if not all - of the new-format SAD H entries already being performed through HMRC's CHIEF computer are being submitted on Impatex software. The company's customers have all received the upgraded program, and many have already fully migrated to it.
Impatex's information suggests that around 1 in 1000 entries were being submitted in the new SAD H format after the first three weeks of operation but, as Impatex software processes around half of all airfreight entries alone in the UK, that figure is set to soar as more of its customers switch to SAD H.
Says Impatex MD Peter Day: "We are concentrating our efforts port by port and airport by airport, to provide customers with more focused support; we will have covered all communities before Christmas. Many customers are setting their own cutover schedule. Either way, we have excellent support resources in place, and we are experiencing very few problems."
He continues: "We get the impression that HMRC is very pleased that our customers are so far ahead of the game, as this is providing exactly the live testing that everyone needs to iron out any problems. Now HMRC can see that one supplier has provided a robust solution to all its customers so early on, it is unlikely they will give a "stay of execution" for anyone else.
"Anyone who does not have upgraded SAD H software in their hands today should start worrying: the old system now has less than 60 working days to live, with the deadline remaining January 20th.
Impatex's unique Download Manager has been invaluable in enabling the company to issue customers with patches quickly and easily. Day adds: "Most of the issues have been caused by initial misinterpretations of what HMRC meant in their specification, but this has now been fully clarified. Meanwhile CHIEF appears to be standing up very well, given that it is currently handling both old and new-style SADs."
Concludes Day: "We said all along that we did not understand why some people were making so much fuss about SAD H. We have now proven that the migration can actually be quite straightforward, and are very pleased we could give our users the opportunity to switch over in this unhurried manner, so taking full advantage of the dual-running period to iron out wrinkles and re-train staff."
The UK's leading supplier of Customs processing software recently took a significant step to help the
freight industry cope with the switch to SAD Harmonisation, with the launch of a dedicated information
website www.sadharmonisation.com
